Leg 3

After the completion of leg 2, we completed a lot of tasks at Svendsen's Boat Yard: bottom painting, replacing a faulty sea cock and through-hull, painting the mast and boom, changing head hose, greasing all sea cocks, replacing an unused transducer with a new one, removing another unused transducer and filling the hole, replacing the transducer for our beloved Interphase Probe forward-looking sonar, and much more. Regardless, we did leave many task undone: replacing and re-rigging the boom, replacing halyards in the mast, completing needed new instrument runs (two new transducer cables as well as replacing the radar cable), and many other tasks. Unfortunately, we experienced a period of very bad luck with boat problems. Repairing the resulting problems caused delays that wrecked our schedule and our budget. Never the less, we headed south to San Diego, arriving in time for the start of the Haha. In San Diego, we took on our Baja Haha companions, Jerry and Nancy Wertzbaugher, and headed to Cabo San Lucas, MX. It was a great trip and we fell in love with Mexico again, just as we always do. After the end of the Haha, the Wertzbaughers left us and continued on to La Paz where we left Wings on the hard for winter.
