Work in the Yard Here are a few photos that we've taken around the yard this past few days. As tasks are in progress, one of us snaps a few photos for the site. . This is my work on re-bedding the starboard fuel fill, the recognized source of a bad and damaging leak. Without a great deal of effort, I couldn't raise the fuel fill fitting through the hull, so work had to be done in place. I rigged this silly cord and wire system to allow two-handed work. ![]() This is the saloon overhead hatch and its woodwork frame. I should have worked on this long ago, but it's got 4 coats of that great varnish on it. New wood darkens more than we like for our interior, so it's not the best choice, but it's great varnish otherwise. We pass this unknown palm every day, but have no idea what it is. In the photo, I'm shooting downward at the flower. This shows the two set screws that I remove to install Zerk fittings for greasing the prop. The grease that's leaking from the prop seams is proof of grease getting pumped into the prop cavity. These are two of the four Allen head machine screws that join the prop gear body. This is looking forward at the propeller zinc on the end. In focus is the rear end of the prop body showing the same Allen head machine screws, each with its own Cotter pin to prevent loosening and loss. Done! The prop blades are open and the fasteners are all tight and have Cotter pins.. Lovely Conni can sit upright under the boom and work. I can't. I didn't mean to lose her head in the photo and assure you that it's still there. We visited the only store in town: the Liat. These are the LONG French green beans. Note that the tomatores are from the US. Crazy! We were awaiting our turn to check out and I snapped this photo of the front of the market from inside. Looks normal enough. Look at these cereal prices! To convert to French Polynesian Francs, divide by 100. US$20 for a bag of cereal? They travel a long way to sit on that shelf, I guess. I realize that this is a silly photo, but it's an images of the varnish can of the product that I like so much. Not American. |
