We Arrive on Raiatea

We arrived on Raiatea at 0300 hours this morning, totally exhausted.  We gathered our gear, got our vehicle, and headed for Pension Tiare Nui, where we slept for four solid hours.  After being awakening, we went shopping, whick is always a treat and hauled our groceies back to the bungalow. After lunch, we visited the boat, but more on that later.

L'Aviation is a nice cafe inside the Fa'a International Airport and a long-time spot to eat and await flights.

As we walked from the Air Tahiti side of the airport, we saw the beautiful sunrise behind the fleet of island-hopping aircraft.

We waited for a few minutes for our guide to lead us to the correct plane. It was so beautiful that I snapped this photo.

As I mentioned in the blog, Air Tahiti, the inter-island airlines, offered new stuff for Priority customers, and here's an example. It was a small bag, nice logo, full of island food. It was very nice!

This is Mo'orea, sister island to Tahiti.  It's on the path to Raiatea, so we flew close.  We've made the Raiatea to Mo'orea trip many times, but never with such a view.  Marlon Brando's Mutiny on the Bounty was filmed on Mo'orea.

Our baggage load is clear: 3 blue boxes, my Bill Bag, Conni's black duffle, and packs for each of us

This is the inside of the Raiatea Airport. Note the lovely back tattoo.

This is the kiosk for the Raiatea Location car and bungalow rental. Conni is on the left and Morgana on the left.

This is a China-made pickup truck. Made by the Great Wall truck company, this is a Wingle.  Never head of it.

A group of local guys have grabbed their spear fishing gear and are heading out.

This is the mooring field for two charger companies: Moorings and Sun Sail. That's Bora Bora in the backgroud.

Baguettes! I never noticed that there are two producers, noted on the bottom. They do look different.

Lovely Conni stands in the tiny kitchen of our first bungalow on this trip. We've since been moved. We're just returning from a grocery run.

Our first view of Wings. Note how she's shoe-horned into place. There is barely enough space between the boats to stand a ladder and for me to squeeze through.

As usual, here's a catamaran that's gone up on a reef, causing enormous damage to the hulls.
