Friday Before I Crashed From Travel I was certainly exhausted but felt that I needed to check with the Carenage office and look at the boat and yard, so I wearily drove down. They've done a lot of work on the Carenage grounds. Take a look. . The jetty here used to be a rat-infested (BIG rats, too), dirt jetty: the nastiest thing like that we've ever seen, but now it's this. At left, they've floated a small dock for boats assigned to be pulled from the water. Nice. Another and closer shot of the dock. At one time, there was an old ferry there that made difficult entering the slip in winds, but this is narrow enough to dodge when aligning for the haul-out slip. The old restroom/shower room is much the same but at least received a coat of paint. This is the haul-out slip for the TraveLift. The machine uses the two sides to drive and hover over the vessel, the lifts it. It's cleaner and drains water better. Alas, when pulling the mast, the yard crew snapped our Windex arm. Sigh... Something else to repair and I don't have a spare. As we expected, the old radome protector was shot, but I brought another. We use an outboard cover and it works well to keep sun and rain from the radome. This was one year of UV damage! Wings, without a mast or cover. For reasons that we don't understand, the dodger and bimini have been erected rather than our rear boat cover piece. We never received an explanation. Here's her bow. No cover and no mast make her look odd for my first look. It usually requires a week of work before the cover is off! I used this line to hoist the very heavy box of parts and tools. Nice view of the cam cleats that I use to get electronics cables through the hull. The orangish stains are from Thiokol, an old caulk. Only On-Off can remove it.
