Alone on Wings As I've grown older, I've come to realize that one can never even hallucinate how life will unfold. This year is a case in point. As I've mentioned in past posts, our insurance required that we replace the rigging on the boat. We also had to replace the mast step, the wooden block that physically supports the mast and resists the downward force of the stainless steel cables that support the mast: obviously an important component. Neither task was either unreasonable nor unexpected. We had arranged for the work to be done
beginning in April, and here we are in August and the mast has
just been removed and the work begun. With so little time
remaining, we can't put the boat in the water this season, so I'll
haul gear and lonely self, and for two weeks, complete as many
maintenance chores as I can: no Conni, no visitors, no
sailing.
I will undoubtedly post some photos, so stay
tuned!
